lately we have been...

waking up to clear skies!

which means days filled with sunshine!

keeping our coffee warm in this adorable new hedgehog thermos

drinking lots of my delicious blueberry-cherry smoothies, made with thick creamy turkish yogurt and soy milk

crunching the frozen grass and leaves on cold mornings

(and trying not to slip on icy streets...)

enjoying fika of tosca cake and coffee with a great view at the hidden cafe on the very top of this water tower

liking the colours of buildings like these

enjoying the surprisingly great specialty beer selection available from the state alchohol monopoly

and watching the sun start to set at 3h30pm.

more sun today - such luck! it makes everything just a bit better. i went alone back to the forests around gunnebo slot that we visited last weekend. there are amazing birch stands there - i have never seen my favourite tree look quite so pretty, even if the light was mostly gone behind the hill by the time i got there.

i heard some strange sounds, and saw that there were three pigs in a pen here in the forest for some reason!
they were squealing and grunting and fighting with each other, and they came right up to the fence eagerly.
i found out on my walk back that they must have been hungry; a man showed up to feed them.

the sun stayed bright and gorgeous, even though the hill kept it all the way over there!

but it was ok, because i found it again when i got to the lake.

this afternoon, the sun came out for the first time in way too long, and it was WONDERFUL.

göteborg is a very grey city. it has been more than two weeks since we have had sun this bright.

so it is something to celebrate! i went for a long walk in the park - and the zoo.

these sheep were making the most of the nice weather, just like me!

(i actually thought that one in the back-middle might be dead at first, but nope, he was just especially comfy)

the leaves are mostly all fallen from the trees by now.

fall is almost over - the sun sets just after 4pm now, and it is pitch black by 5.

i am already excited for the first snow, although the weather has stayed pretty mild.

no snow yet - but i don't need to worry, i know there will be plenty soon!
